Art of (anti) Corruption Poster Exhibition - OPEN

…This program has been completed…

October 20 – November 19

AGBU Exhibition Hall (2/2 Melik Adamyan St. Yerevan)
Hours: 10 am – 6 pm, everyday
Tours by appointment at [email protected]

The Art of (anti) Corruption exhibition is the culmination of the Art of (anti) Corruption Poster Competition and Exhibition, implemented in collaboration with curator/artist Samvel Saghatelian. Over 70 artists, from Gyumri to New York and Belgium to El Salvador, participated in the competition, and 35 were selected to enter the final exhibition.

The exhibition is part of the Art of (anti) Corruption campaign, a year-long series of events implemented by Impact Hub Yerevan in partnership with the European Union Delegation in Armenia. Through artistic and cultural interpretations of corruption in Armenia, the Art of (anti) Corruption campaign seeks to empower artists to shine a creative light on the complicated effects of corruption on Armenian society and beyond.

Why Posters?

Posters are a powerful medium for social change. A megaphone for dreamers, the frustrated, and the oppressed, they serve as a record of societies’ struggles for peace, social justice, and political reform. Their sharp messages and arresting imagery make them extremely effective in raising awareness and influencing opinion, and thus they remain one of the most persuasive and resonant tools with which artists drive social change.

We are proud to partner with the European Union Delegation in Armenia and with these incredibly talented artists to bring this exhibition to you.

Description

Through artistic and cultural interpretations of corruption in Armenia, the year-long “Art of (anti) Corruption” campaign seeks to raise awareness, educate and shine a creative light on the complicated effects of corruption on Armenian society and beyond.

The key message of the campaign is to raise awareness and educate people on their rights and to change the perception that corruption is an inevitable “way of life” in Armenia.

This project is funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia and implemented by Impact Hub Yerevan.

Events & Activities

We successfully kicked off the project with an “Ideathon” evening, where we gathered creative minds to come up with appropriate messages for the program to best reach the general public in Armenia. Ideas were collected, discussed and narrowed down to be used in the project’s future activities:

Get Involved!

The official hashtag of the project is #ArtofCorruption, which is used and promoted for people to post their personal stories as well as report cases of corruption they have encountered.

To educate yourself further about this important topic and learn more about the upcoming competitions and events within the scope of this program, please follow the campaign’s official Facebook page.

WHAT IS THE BEYOND (UN)EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM ABOUT?

Robert Bosch Stiftung and Impact Hub have joined forces to explore issues of employment across Europe with a view to improving civil society across the continent.

As a starting point, 5 Impact Hubs (Birmingham, Florence, Moscow, Yerevan and Zagreb) will work on an employment-related topic highly relevant to their region and their citizens – such as Youth Unemployment, Social Inclusion for the Unemployed, and Future Forms of Working – developing a deep and system-level understanding of the issue before designing, and ultimately implementing, interventions and solutions to these issues.

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF IMPACT HUB YEREVAN?

Impact Hub Yerevan will be focusing on mapping existing challenges in Armenia, and learning from other Impact Hubs to identify alternative models of employment as well as geography independent business opportunities.

Beyond (un)employment is Impact Hub Yerevan’s first real foray into leading collaborations with partner Impact Hubs from other countries, and we’re really keen to make sure the value and opportunities it brings are shared with our community and city, in alignment with our mission.

HOW WILL WE IMPLEMENT IT?

We believe that Armenia’s highly educated and innovative population is the country’s greatest asset, that is why we chose 20 of the most innovative individuals involved in various sectors to be our experts. They are Corporate/HR Executives, University Students, Academics, Social Entrepreneurs, Civil Society Representatives, Media Makers and many more. We will be hosting 12 expert meetings during the next nine months and will come up with tangible solution packages to tackle unemployment issues in Armenia. Three of the experts from our group will also have the chance to be ambassadors for a learning circle meeting in one of the four partner Hubs.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT?

Through beyond (un)employment we aim to achieve the following:

  • Raise awareness on the issues brought up during the expert meetings and possible solutions through social media & media
  • Overcome silos between organisations, institutions, individuals working on unemployment themes
  • Higher engagement and purpose in work, resulting in a healthier workforce
  • Contribute to social cohesion and stronger engagement of citizens around unemployment themes
  • Give citizens the possibility to actively shape and influence their environment and society as a whole, enhancing a vibrant and engaged citizenry

Description & Goal

For most of 2016, the Impact Hub Yerevan team has been studying the social enterprise ecosystem of Armenia.

The objective of this research is to support the work of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Armenia by providing a situational analysis of the current social enterprise (SE) ecosystem, and by mapping the various stakeholders within the social entrepreneurship space in Armenia.

This study seeks to outline the SE landscape in Armenia, however it is not an exhaustive or comprehensive review of all SEs and their support organizations in the contry. The specific focus of this analysis is:

  • to identify, review and record the existing enabling environment for SEs;
  • to document the scope of capacity-building activities supporting SEs;
  • to understand the profiles of those organisations that are considered as representatives of SEs;
  • to map the SE sector and identify gaps.

Moreover, special attention is given to legislation, policy & regulations, social investment structures and other available support schemes in order to identify further potential that would contribute to SE development and lay the foundation for future strategic partnerships.

Methods

Methods utilized for this study included desk-based literature review of existing information and studies on this topic, field visits and interviews with regional SE initiatives, stakeholder interviews and focus groups. An online survey was also launched in mid-September 2016 with the aim of mapping those initiatives/organizations that are self-identifying as SEs.

Our recommendations to the EU

Based on our in-depth research, we are sharing concrete recommendations with our EU partners in Armenia, as well as with stakeholders across the social entrepreneurship space, to further boost this growing sector. Click here to read the report and learn more about our recommendations.
