Program Overview

The Vahé & Lucie Foundation Fellowship in Creative Industries 2025 is a one-year program designed to inspire, connect, and enable creative entrepreneurs, researchers, and organizations working in the art and culture sectors in Armenia. In collaboration with Impact Hub Yerevan and the Vahé & Lucie Foundation, this fellowship provides access to an inspiring space, a dynamic community, and the resources needed to develop innovative projects.

Program Objectives/Goals

  • Foster Creativity: Support individuals and teams in developing groundbreaking projects in the creative industries.
  • Encourage Entrepreneurship: Provide the necessary tools and mentorship to help participants launch and scale their initiatives.
  • Promote Cultural Development: Contribute to Armenia’s artistic and cultural landscape through innovative and impactful projects.
  • Build a Community: Connect participants with a diverse network of industry experts, professionals, and fellow innovators.
  • Create Lasting Impact: Support initiatives that drive artistic expression, cultural preservation, and economic opportunities in the creative sector.

 

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is open to:

  • Aspiring creative entrepreneurs, researchers, and organizations working in the creative industries.
  • Individuals or teams, regardless of whether they have an officially registered entity.
  • Those who commit to dedicating at least 70% of their time to the initiative and actively participating in at least 70% of the program’s events and activities.

Eligible fields include, but are not limited to:

  • Visual Arts
  • Crafts (weaving, furniture design, jewelry design, etc.)
  • Film, TV, Animation, Video, Radio & Photography
  • Video Games, Virtual Reality (VR), Extended Reality (XR)
  • Museums, Galleries & Cultural Heritage
  • Writing, Publishing & Libraries
  • Design (product, graphic, fashion, etc.)
  • Architecture & Urban Design
  • Culinary Arts

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation & Creativity: The originality and uniqueness of the project.
  • Feasibility & Execution Potential: The ability to successfully implement the project.
  • Cultural & Economic Impact: The project’s contribution to Armenia’s creative sector.
  • Commitment & Motivation: The applicant’s dedication and availability for active participation.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, and the final selection will be made by a jury panel from Impact Hub Yerevan and The Vahé & Lucie Foundation.

 

About Vahé & Lucie

Vahé Fattal studied painting at the National School of Fine arts in Paris. He was a painter and a graphic designer who founded his own full-service design and advertising agency that serviced entertainment and corporate accounts such as ABC Television, the “big 5” Hollywood movie studios, National Geographic, Nissan, UCLA Extension, First Interstate Bank, etc. Creative services included all aspects of corporate identity and communications, advertising and marketing campaigns, motion picture and television campaigns, and motion graphics and branding.

Vahé was also the designer of the raised-first Karabakh symbol and posters (1988), the designer of the flag of Karabakh (1998), one of the original founders of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival (2004) and the designer of its visual identity, the designer of Armenia Fund’s Telethon “Make it Happen” advertising campaign (2004), the art director of AIM/Armenian International Magazine (1990-1992), etc.

Lucie Fattal was a University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) graduate with a Master’s degree in philosophy and French literature. She then attended the intensive French Language and Civilization courses (CCFS) at Sorbonne University in Paris before meeting and marrying Vahé. Together they shared a commitment to and a passion for all things Armenian, higher education, the arts and exploring the world.
