The Embassy of Switzerland & Impact Hub Yerevan, in collaboration with the American University of Armenia and the Embassy of France, hosted an illuminating discussion on Smart Cities.
During the first panel, titled “Culture of Collaboration and Innovation”, speakers Alexandre Coquoz from Switzerland and Bertrand Rouzeau from France presented the Innobridge accelerating innovation program and how smart solutions should ultimately be for the citizens by decreasing the usage of resources. Some examples were given from Smart Parking, Smart Energy and Smart Waste Management solutions in Europe.
After the presentations, panel discussants Sarhat Petrosyan from UrbanLab, Anoush Yedigaryan from COAF Smart Centers, and Nune Petrosyan from the Goris Smart City Project, talked about their work in this area and posed relevant questions to the speakers related to applicability within the local reality.
During the second panel, titled “Data analytics, Apps, Platforms, and Ability to deal with technology and knowledge-intensive systems”, speakers Yann Barth and Chloé Saas talked about the MySmartCity.ch program (an acceleration program for the development and
implementation of innovative projects in the field of Smart Cities) and SNUKR, a dynamic community and content publishing tool.
After the presentations, panel discussants Arthur Dolmajian and Kim Avanesyan talked about public transport and MobiDram (a smart mobile wallet) and posed interesting questions related to the local reality in Armenia.
Both panels were moderated by Alen Amirkhanian, Director of the Acopian Center for the Environment at AUA.
